Gossip & Gists: Segun Arinze Writes To E! 365 Readers

An e-mail message I got from star actor Segun Arinze this evening concerning comments on a previous posts – Segun Arinze & Family Cover Magazine. He wants to set the record straight about some misconceptions. See it below…

Dear E! 365,

I want to thank you for having such a wonderful blog. Having said that, I want to say despite the fact that we have freedom of expression doesn’t give people the liberty to be reckless with words without verifying facts first. Someone said my wife cut across as someone rude. That’s a big lie! She’s the most courteous person you can think of. Sometimes people like to take the piss.

Now my full names are Segun Aina Padonou. My father, though late, was Yoruba from Badagry.  My mum is Ibo. Arinze is the Ibo name given to me by my mum. So I used it as Pseudonym. That’s why you have Segun Arinze.

And as at the last time I looked in the mirror, I didn’t see any ugly Segun. No human has a right to call another ugly because you ain’t God. You can’t give life so don’t curse or swear.

Once again thanks E! 365.

Gossip & Gists: Tyler Perry Shares A Touching Story Of How He Rose To Fame *A Must Read*

Hollywood actor and movie producer Tyler Perry today on his website shared a touching story of how he rose to fame and how a woman helped him during his struggling days.

tyler perry life story

Read the detail story from Tyler Perry below:

It’s funny how a song, a taste, a scent, or something as simple as a change in weather can trigger a memory. Certain times of year make me think about when I was homeless. Especially the winter. I started thinking about this one lady in particular who helped me out during that time. She was a good soul who saw me in need and gave me money and food. She didn’t have much but what she had she shared out of the kindness of her heart. I told her that when I got successful I would pay her back. She smiled and said, “You don’t have to pay me anything. I just felt led to help you.

I couldn’t stop thinking about her the other day so I did some research and found her. Imagine her shock when I called her. She didn’t even think that I remembered her. It’s funny how something that was a small gesture to her was a huge blessing to me. As we went on talking, she reluctantly told me that she had just lost her job and was facing foreclosure. Of course, I did some things to help her out.

Why am I telling you this? I’m glad you asked. She gave to me out of the kindness of her heart. She gave to me from a pure place and expected nothing in return. The thing that brought tears to my eyes and blessed me so about this situation was this: this woman planted a seed in my life almost twenty years ago. But what she didn’t know at the time was that the seed she planted would one day come back and bless her life just when she needed it most.

So what am I saying? I’m saying that if you are a giver of whatever you have… time, money, love, help, whatever it is… if you plant it in pureness it has got to come back to you. It may take a while but you will reap a harvest from that seed. Don’t be weary in well-doing. It will come back to you. I know sometimes it may seem that all the good you do goes unnoticed by people, but if they don’t notice, it doesn’t matter. If they don’t acknowledge your kindness, it does not matter. You know why? Because I promise you God sees it all and He is the only one that matters. And He is bound by His word, and that word says you will reap what you sow. So sow on, sow good seeds. They will grow and come back to you when you least expect it.

God bless you today.

Gossip & Gists: Amanda Bynes Calls Jay-Z "Ugly Face" On Twitter, Promptly Deletes Photo

Amanda Bynes is back in the news, for even more random and head-scratching reasons than usual. She took a shot at Jay-Z of all people, amazingly.

Amanda Bynes: Hot

The troubled 26-year-old posted a Tweet reading "ugly face" and then linking to a photo of the rap mogul ... then deleted it from her feed a bit later. Could Amanda Bynes' Twitter account have been hacked? Or did she simply share a random thought about Jay-Z before she thought better of it?

Probably the latter. For what it's worth, the rest of Bynes' tweets from the last few days meanwhile consist of brief, benign and mostly cheery updates on her activities. The actress, or "retired" actress as she's been known to call herself, has been loving life in New York (and taking self-portraits of herself apparently).

Bynes Tweet Re: Jay Z
Dissing Jay-Z is the least of Amanda's 99 problems in any case. Beyonce's husband has been on top of the world personally and professionally these days, while she's been reeling in the past year to put it mildly. Misdemeanors hit-and-runs, a DUI arrest, traffic violations, face piercings, possibly walking around a tanning salon nude, getting evicted... the list goes on.

Gossip & Gists: Miley Cyrus Is Definitely Not Dating Ed Westwick

Lashing out at what she perceived as total hypocrisy, Miley Cyrus took to Twitter on Friday night to rail against a false report from celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton. After a report from the popular website included photos of the "Party in the U.S.A. singer and "Gossip Girl" star Ed Westwick.

Though none of the photos show the two actually together, Perez claimed they were seen "in the same car" and asked, "Did the Mileybird just up and decide it was time to bounce on fiance Liam Hemsworth??" He continued, "The two were spotted hanging out late Thursday night, as Ed made his way into the car where a bashful Miley was waiting. But not before the shutterbugs captured a few glistening moments of the shocking twosome."

After viewing the report, the 20-year-old musician tweeted, "Hope you find love one day but can you not f**k with mine. I’ve never been [with] Ed W in my life. I was at the studio last night working on my record and never left with anyone other than my assistant."

In an attempt to shame the chatterbox, Ms. Cyrus admonished, "What happened to your big enlightenment… what happened to your promise to spread love not lies. And to be a decent human being with values and morals??? Dude you ask for people to respect you and your relationships I demand the same thing."

Perhaps genuinely hurt, Miley added that Perez is "the first one to write about my engagement and my wedding and how happy u r for me and the first to try to tear my life."

Ending on a positive note, she concluded, "Respect, love, & compassion are mandatory,” she pleaded before adding, “hope this message finds you happy and healthy.” The posts have since been deleted from her Twitter and Perez has backed off of his story due to the clarification from the former Disney darling.

Interviews & Hype: "I Don’t Feel Any Pressure Being EME’s First Lady" – Niyola

Born Eniola Akinbo, she’s better known as sultry singer Niyola. The only lady in the EME squad, she’s had a career that has spanned over 10 years, and in this interview, says she’s ready to stage a comeback, challenges notwithstanding.

What has your journey to and through the music industry been like?

I started doing music quite early. I was part of Starlet music competition in 2000. It used to be part of the events for the AMEN Awards. I was the first runner-up for that year, and it was where I met people like Plantashun Boiz, Psquare, Paul Play and Slam, who I used to see on TV and hear about. From there, I started singing back up for Sound Sultan and Baba Dee, and I did a duet with Faze on a track for his first album. I was also on Trybe Records for a short period. After I left them, I recorded my first two singles with Make Some Noise Productions. The songs were accepted and from there I decided to continue, after which I got signed to Westside Records label.

Has your journey been what you expected it to be, considering the fact that you’ve been in the game for over a decade?

Because I am doing this for the passion I have for it, I will say all the time and effort I’ve put into this business has been worth it for me, and I won’t say I have regrets, because I know this is the beginning of a new dispensation for me. When I left Westside, I took some time off to retreat. I felt I needed some time to put certain things in place, especially because I thought I was going to be starting on my own. I knew I needed to set a lot of things right and be sure I was ready for the journey I was about to take, and as God will have it, I came back with EME.

Your video ‘Don’t go there‘ was just released. How did you find the experience?

It was amazing. We rehearsed for about four weeks before the video was shot. The choreography, the dancers and the dances made it all fun.

The video is your most recent solo work after a long time away. Does it mean you’re ready for a come-back?

Definitely, it is. I am back and I am ready.

Nigeria’s music industry doesn’t seem to be too friendly with the ladies. Only a few of them are making waves. How are you making sure you’re among the top ranked female singers?

There is no strategy per se, but I can assure you I will do what I know how to do best and be the best at whatever I do. If that is what you call a strategy, then that is my strategy.

How do you intend to deal with other female artistes who may see you as a competitor?

Honestly, I am not setting out to compete with anybody, I am just going to strive to be the best at what I do and I think if I’m the best at what I do, my work will speak for itself.

When are you likely to release your album?

It’s definitely going to be next year, although I can’t say what quarter it will be. I will be dropping more singles and more videos as well.

A lot has changed since you went off the radar. Now that you’re planning a comeback, what kind of songs should we expect from you?

I will stick to my contemporary music. I don’t like to box myself to a corner, describing myself as an R&B or soul singer. I will just do what comes naturally. I’m ready to explore and make more good music that people can relate to.

Who are you planning to work with on your album?

I really can’t say for now but I am going to be working with a lot of people. I definitely want to work with Banky W because I have always been a fan. I have done stuff with Skales too , and hopefully one other female artiste.

You were once romantically linked with rapper Freestyle. Is there a possibility of you both getting together again, at least professionally?

I was? Well, Freestyle was my great friend and is still my very good friend. We had a conversation yesterday just like the friends that we are. Working with him, I can’t say for now, maybe, maybe not.

Are you in a relationship now?

No. I am very much single.

Tell us how your journey into EME started and how it has been so far.

Banky and I have always been friends and when I decided to make my comeback, I did a song with Skales. Along the line, I went to the EME house where I met him and everybody. We got talking about so many things, including the DELSU rape issue which was popular then. He advised that I do a song about rape in Nigeria at that time. He later volunteered to be part of the song. We started working on the song and I guess it was at that point he realized he had to sign me. So far, the journey has been great and a lot of fun. I look forward to more fun moments because as much as it is work, it is also a lot of fun because it is what we love to do.

What is the difference between your previous label and EME?

I’ve only been on one record label, which was Westside Music. Everybody has their modus operandi and how they operate, so it is a different thing entirely. Besides, we cannot compare the kind of music that was in trend then to what is available now. There is a whole lot of difference. I like where I am now, which is very important. The past is gone.

How does it feel being EME’s first lady, and does it come with pressure?
It definitely feels good because everybody is looking out for me on a personal and work level. They don’t let anybody mess with me. They are like hawks watching over me, the things brothers do for their only sister. There hasn’t been any pressure on me at all. I am comfortable being the first lady.

In your twelve active years in the music industry, you must have observed lots of changes. What is your opinion of Nigerian music as it is today?

I will say it is evolving. It’s a lot better than it was, which is very good and rewarding. People are a lot more confident now being artistes. A lot of people are becoming more expressive with their music, and are no longer scared of doing the kind of music they want to because of fear of acceptance. Different styles have come up and it gladdens my heart that it is happening. I am really happy.

What was life like before you started doing music?

I grew up in Lagos. I studied Journalism and English language and a little bit of travel and tourism. And of course, I was blending everything with music. I love to do different things. For now I am doing music, but I will be doing a lot of things next year. Expect a lot of things from me, besides music, but whatever it is going to be, it’s going to be entertainment related.

Lastly, what is your take on the segregation female singers have had to face in Nigeria and what solutions would you suggest?

I think the segregation is factored by the society. We are in a society where the women aren’t seen as equal to the men, so naturally, it affects every sector. The banking sector is affected too, and it is obvious in politics. It will definitely be a challenge but I think it boils down to the individual.

Gossip & Gists: "Please, Cover Up Your Boobs And Bum" - CBS Issues Advice To Grammy Awards Guests

CBS TV Network has issued a wardrobe advisory to the guests who will be attending the 55th Grammy Awards this Sunday, February 10, 2013.
Rihanna, Jennier Lopez, Pink have all shocked us once… or twice.

The TV network is advising the ‘scandalously clad celebrities’ and ‘flash bearers’ to cover up their bodies before making their way to the awards ceremony.

Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered’, the statement opens…
‘Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare flesh under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples’, the statement continues.

Somehow we feel CBS is directly talking to the usual suspects – Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and Lady Gaga.
CBS is also advising for guests not to wear clothing that reveals its maker. The yearly awards show has had its fair share of ‘controversial and revealing’ red carpet instances in the past. Here are a few pictures E! 365 gathered from past editions of the Grammys…

Gossip & Gists: Gospel Singer, Nikki Laoye To Host Her Own Radio Show

Gospel soul singer Nikki Laoye is set to host her own radio show on Nigeria’s first online gospel radio station, PraiseWorld Radio.
E! 365 gathered that the show which the singer titles Girls Rock with Nikki Laoye is a 2-hour weekly radio show dedicated to ‘projecting the impact being made by young women of faith in the world of entertainment, arts and business with major emphasis on Nigeria, as well as references from the African and international scene’.

According to the singer, ‘Lots of women are doing great works out there but no one is giving them the recognition and support they deserve and that’s what the show is primarily about’.

Nikki, an award-winning gospel artiste, isn’t new to broadcasting. Years ago, she hosted a TV show, New Breeze Show which created a platform for interaction between celebrities and youths via interviews and hang-out programs which aired on Silverbird Television.

Events: Surprise! Kim Kardashian To Co-host Darey’s "Love Like A Movie" Concert In Lagos!

She’s probably the biggest reality TV star in the world right now and her Nigerian fans will be glad to know Kim Kardashian is coming to Nigeria!
Darey_Kim K
E! 365 has reliably gathered that Kim K will be the co-host and ‘special platinum guest’ of R&B singer Darey’s upcoming Valentine concert titled ‘Love Like a Movie’ which takes place next weekend, February 17, 2013 at the Convention Centre of the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Guests at the concert will also see the famous baby bump that has put all the tabloids in a frenzy. We aren’t sorry we’re stealing her from Kanye West for a few days.

The 32-year-old ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ star has been to other African countries in recent years.
As announced earlier, the concert will feature Nigerian superstars 2face Idibia, Flavour, Ice Prince, Iyanya, and Darey to deliver what many say will be the valentine concert of the year, and one of the most memorable events in Nigeria’s history. Other hit-makers like Timi Dakolo, Waje, 9ice, Praiz and Naeto C are also billed for the concert, as well as South Africa’s Jozi.

We’re bringing together some of the greatest talents in the world of entertainment for a special evening where we celebrate love and all it means to us…Millions of Nigerians follow Kim on her different shows, especially Keeping up with the Kardashians, and we thought it’d be a good idea to have her co-host Love…Like a movie with me’, Darey said in a statement made available to E! 365 this morning in a BBM Chat.

Interviews & Hype: "I May Like Sexing, But.. But.., I Was Never A Stripper" - Karen Igho

In this interview, 27-year-old Karen Igho reveals how she managed to survive the many controversies that trailed her victory at the 2011 BBA, her relationship with eccentric VJ, Denrele and her plans for the future.
What has changed about you since you won the show in 2011?

I am still Karen Igho, but a mature one. A lot has changed. I am older and wiser now. You will not catch me doing certain things. I have seen life in a different way and I know a lot more now.

How does it feel being the reigning Nigerian with the Big Brother crown?

I feel very honoured and privileged that I still have the position as the last Nigerian winner of the show. However, I must add that to win the BBA is not a joke, whoever will, has to be a lot more entertaining than myself, Uti and Kevin Pam put together. I just think it is not time yet for a Nigerian. It’s just the right person needed.

What do you think was responsible for your victory?

I would say God. While I was preparing for the show, the last thing on my mind was how to win. I just wanted to have fun and learn as much as I could. I was lucky to understand that the best strategy for such games is to have no strategy to avoid unnecessary surprises.

What do you mean by unnecessary surprises?

Unnecessary surprises can be anything. You can wake up one day and realise you have been betrayed by a fellow housemate. We were young individuals locked in a room with cameras and constantly watched by millions of people. It was psychologically draining. We all had to fight for attention, respect and win games too. We needed to shout, be crazy or cause trouble to get all these.

What is your take on Nigeria’s performance at the last edition?

Let me first congratulate all of them for going there. I cannot blame any of them or say exactly what went wrong. Ola and Chris left on health grounds, which is a cogent reason. One’s health is a lot more important than money, but if they both had remained in that house, they would have won. Goldie too did her best. They are all cool people but I guess it was not time for a Nigerian.

Do you think Goldie was being true or was playing a game?

I cannot say anything about that because I am not Goldie. I don’t know if she was being real or fake. I can only speak for myself. I was real and I did my thing but we are different.

Do you still feel hurt about the stories written about you while in the house?

Not any more I have forgiven everybody involved. The things written about me were not only false and untrue but slanderous too. I was locked up in the house and could not defend myself. People believed these untrue stories, about me and it continued to spread but I thank God I won the show and I have been able to win the hearts.

Which of the stories got you most?

The one about me being a strípper was untrue. It still baffles me till date. I was locked up for 90 days with a sum of money at stake and as crazy as I was, I didn’t kiss or have sex with any guy and people could still write that I was a strípper.

Were you a strípper?

I was never a strípper. People don’t even know anything about me but are quick to believe the terrible things they heard. My mom is a very strong Christian and she built my spirituality. People who saw me like a wild card girl do not understand what it is being locked in a room with lots of alcohol and nothing to do. It is impossible not to misbehave but once you are back into the normal world, things change. How many times have I being caught smoking in public?

What then were you doing while in the UK?

My uncle helped with my trip to the UK and I went there to study. I studied Business Administration in Southwark College during which I took a summer class in Theatre Arts.
All through my stay there, I survived in a legit way. I joined the UNICEF and other charity organisations, which had African countries in mind. I was also a sales girl for Karen Millen.

Which of the stories were true?

My having a rough childhood was true. My being a strípper wasn’t true. The breast story was true. I genuinely did the implant because I had breast lumps and two of my sisters have done the same (operations).

Tell us about your growing up

I am the first born of ten siblings. My family is a loving and caring one. They stood by me during the Big Brother days. My mother fought severally to defend me. I am from the Urhobo in Delta state, but I was born in Plateau state. I schooled in Jos and Warri.
My growing up was not easy. My parents were separated and I had to live with my grand mum. It was not easy at all but I thank God.

What did you do with the money?

I built a house for my mum, another for my grand mum and I invested the rest. I am still hustling to make more money.

What is happening to your clothing line?

Karenified is still there. I rushed the first collection to meet with my birthday last year and because I wanted to raise some money for an orphanage, I planned to visit. It was successful but I want it bigger, so now I am taking my time and getting to understand the creative side of me better because I want it to reflect in the designs.

How did acting come into the picture?

While I was in the UK, studying business administration, I took a summer course in acting and tried my hands on some Shakespearian works. That and many other experiences I gathered improved my confidence in acting and presenting which are some of the things I now do.

What is your relationship with Denrele?

God brought Denrele into my life in a funny way in 2008. I just came back for a holiday (from UK) and my cousins invited me to his birthday party. There we met and exchanged contacts and became friends. He has been instrumental to where I am today and I am very grateful.

How true is the story that you both are dating?

Somebody started the joke on twitter recently and it went viral. Denrele is my brother and he knows the kind of guys I like.

Can you marry Denrele?

I don’t know the future but Denrele and I cannot get married. We have become one family.

Why are you yet to be married?

No be man go come first? Let’s just say I am waiting for God’s time but I am still working on my career and build the brand.

What kind of man do you like?

I want a God fearing and down to earth man and there must be strong chemistry.

Which Nigerian male celebrity will you date?

I know quite a few and would not want to call names. Besides most of them are married. If I mention anybody, you people (press) will be on my neck and once you see me with the person, another story begins. Nigerian acts are all wonderful people.

How did you get the Naija FM job?

I got the Naija FM job through Collete Otusheso (MTV). She encouraged me and introduced me to my boss, Gbemi (Olateru Olagbegi), Deji Awokoya (Beat FM) and since then, its been fun for me. I love the Naija FM family.

How was your first day on air?

I was nervous. I almost peed in my pant. I was confused and didn’t know what to do, but thanks to Ifektive and my other colleagues, they made it very easy for me and now I am loving it.

What project are you working at the moment?

At the moment, I am working on a Rukky Sanda movie and I have also gotten an invitation to be a part of a soap opera that will be aired across Africa.

What is the update on your assault case with Simrnoff gig?

We agreed to settle out of court because at the end of the day, the deed has been done and the lesson learnt. I also hope that with this the government stands up and ensure that our force men are properly trained on how to relate with the citizens.

Gossip & Gists: Yvonne Nelson And John Dumelo Caught In Sizzling Romance

These two have been playing hide and sick when it obvious that they have undeniable chemistry.

It is high time they come clean about their relationship. Yvonne posted the photo on her instagram and quickly deleted it, unknowingly to her, unknown to her, so many people had already saved the image.

Maybe she removed it because Iyanya was jealous... Every woman  prefers a man who looks into her eyes and not her waist... LOL

Interviews & Hype: "I Am Not A Lesbian, I Only Organise Girls For People" - Nollywood Actress, Mimi Quaker Disclosed!

Mimi Quaker isn’t really a rookie anymore, since featuring in “Evil Mind” some two years ago. The beautiful, curvaceous girl from Port Harcourt has got enough under her belt to rub shoulders with the very best in the industry. Unlike most of her peers, she has seen the two worlds of music and movie. Having featured in close to ten movies, Mimi also has a stake in the music world as a music video vixen. In fact, she was named as one of the top ten video vixens in 2012 by a popular blogger.

But the jovial, down-to-earth Mimi, had a sling of controversy thrown her way when she was accused of being a lesbian for keeping and displaying pictures of various girls as her Blackberry DP (Display Pictures). In this chat with E! 365, she opens up on why she keeps pictures of different girls as her BB Display Pictures, her career and many more. Enjoy:

How did you get into acting?

It was a bit easy for me. I met Chico Ejiro on Facebook and told him about my intention to go into acting. He invited me for an audition and that was how it all started for me.

When did you know  you could act?

I have always loved acting right from my childhood. Back in primary school, I would gather my friends together and got them laughing by putting up different acts. It was then people started taking notice of my talent. Even, some of them advised me to go into acting. It is a childhood passion that has now been realised.

You said you have been acting since 2010. How many movies did you do in 2012 alone?

2012 was really hectic. I had to go back to school full time. So, my studies  took most of my time. Right now, I am in the University of Lagos and I’m studying philosophy. Even at that, I still managed to shoot about six music videos last year.

So, who have you shot music videos with in the past?

I have shot videos with people like KAN, Brymo, Rex, Terry G and several other Nigerian artistes. I was even picked as one of the top ten video vixens by E! 365, the blogger.

What is the actual difference between doing music videos and doing  movies?

There isn’t much difference between the two. Both involve acting in the real sense but the acting in movies is more intense than the acts you need to put up in music videos. However, for me, the big difference is in the pay. Music videos pay far more and it doesn’t take much of your time like movies do. While movies takes months to wrap up, music videos can be a day thing.

Are you telling us that doing music videos are more lucrative than acting in movies?

Yes, it is. For one, the time you spend in producing  just one movie, you could spend the same amount of time doing over ten music videos.

Now, give us an idea of how much it pays for one music video production?

I can’t tell you that now. It’s  like revealing my salary to the whole world. All I can say is that it pays well.

We learnt that artistes usually take advantage of girls who do music videos, is it true?

It is everywhere, not only in the music or movie industry. It is more of a personal thing. You see, it depends onthe individual. If that is what you have come for, fine, you get it but nobody forces anybody on anybody. For me, I have not experienced such since I started singing.

But some artistes usually make passes at you?

Yes, of course. Like I said, it depends on what you are set to achieve. If that is what you set out to achieve then, you are bound to get it.

So when passes are made at you, how do you fend them off?

You just nicely turn them down…

(cuts in) Is it that simple. Imagine somebody grabbing at you roughly and suddenly…?

(cuts in)  That has never happened to me. Maybe it is in the way you carry yourself but that has never happened to me. Besides, I work with decent and respectful bunch of people who are too nice and cultured not to consider that. All the artistes and directors I have worked with are not rude or indecent to descend that low. Maybe it happens in other places but I have never had to face such a situation. Never.

How far do you intend to go in acting?

I intend to go very far. You know, it is something I really like to do and I have no intention of dumping it entirely for music video or anything. I just want to finish my education first. Education is important because if you are educated people would take you more seriously. After my education, I intend to come back with a storm, and probably do one or two movies of my own, with my own money.

Between doing movies and music videos, which one are you more involved with right now?

Music videos of course, because it doesn’t take all my time. In 2012 I featured in more than five videos.

And those five paid enough to last you the whole year?

Yes they did. Apart from that I also organise girls for music videos.

How do you mean. Like an agency or what?

Yes. Most of the directors are my friends and they ask me to bring girls for music videos. So, I organise girls for their videos. All they do is ask me to bring girls with certain specifications and I search for girls with those specifications. Sometimes, I provide nothing less than five girls for a music video and what I do is to get paid from the girls’ payment.

How much percentage do you take off their cuts?

Well, sometimes I take up to 40 per cent.

So, what do you look for in the girls you pick?

The shape is the most important feature. The girl must be very curvy with nice skin colour, not necessarilylight-skinned and the height doesn’t matter. The type of girls to choose often depends on the director’s specifications. In some instances, the director may require a busty girl, big backside girl or even a slim-waist girl. Generally, a sexy curvy girl passes.

There have been a lot of girls on your Blackberry (DP) Display Picture. Does this have anything to do with your sexual preference?

I don’t know what you are talking about but those girls you have been seeing on my DP are some of the girls I selected for a music video.

Why do you flaunt them on your DP?

(laughing), is it giving you headache or is there any problem with that?

Some have said you flaunt them because you are a lesbian and are involved with them.

(laughing) I don’t want to talk about that.

What do you mean you don’t want to talk about that?

Are you done? I don’t want to talk about that. Next question.

Are you a lesbian, Mimi?

No. next question.

Are you in a relationship?

Yes I am.

So what attracted you to the man?

I guess the physique. I also like guys with a good set of teeth. He must also be handsome, tall, well built and God-fearing.

As an upcoming artiste, imagine you are given a script that entails you having sex on set, would you take it?

Yes, because it is only make-believe. You are not actually having sex but making it look like you are having sex.

But what if it involves exposing vital parts of your body?
Well, if the money is good enough, I will take it. The whole idea is make-believe and getting the job done. It has nothing to do with my person.

Who do you consider your role models in the industry?

In Nigeria, I have Mercy Johnson and Genevieve. I used to like Rita Dominic but not any more because she has not lived up to my expectation.

What do you consider first before taking up a role?

The role itself. I must be able to assimilate it and project it to perfection before I can take it on. Then, I look at how it would be viewed by the society and the likely criticisms that may arise from it. Then, I look at what impacts it has on the society. I like to do films that pass messages to the society.

Interviews & Hype: “Yes, For Any Success Story There Is Pressure” – Omo Baba #1

Now you can meet one of Nigeria’s Ace Comedian, Fagade Olufemi Ademola aka Fine Boy, Most Handsome, Sexy Dude, Wowo and Dr. Fix-It fondly called Omo Baba #1 in a BBM Chat Interview with E! 365.

What is comedy like to you?

Comedy is a way life, an expression of God’s giving talent to make the soul and spirit relax in a tensed atmosphere especially a country like Nigeria.

What has your journey to and through the comedy been like?

Preparation is the mother of success. I was prepared, I knew what I wanted and with God on my side I have been able to scale through the difficult times like how to make a name for myself, where to start from, who to meet and how but to cut the long story short, I will say it was a bit cumbersome but thanks to God for seeing me through and making a way where there is none.

Has your journey been what you expected it to be, considering the fact that you’ve been in the game for over a decade?

Yes, it is and that’s why my name is Oluwafemi meaning God loves me or Omo Baba meaning Son of God, and He made me understand that in all things I should give thanks. Comedy industry is the only industry that you can never get old except you pretend you are. So, all these years is just like yesterday to me, I am getting stronger and better everyday.

Tell us how you discovered comedy, how it started and how it has been so far.

Well, I was active in church and school, I was a member of my school’s cultural group, choral group, drama group, school press club, football team and head of brigade band in my secondary school. Immediately after school, I started a band called Riverside Band and all we do is Afro Gospel but it was cumbersome for me to fund as a boy so I delve into comedy but still doing music by the side and thanks to God for His grace.

What was life like before you started doing comedy?

I’m from a family of 7 plus dad and mum and the last born of the family so I enjoyed being pampered by all, I was allowed to do what I want except those things that a good child should not do. My passion for sports is out of this world, I played basketball and football close to the level of being a pro and I don’t drink and smoke as well, I am just that little boy that is happy with myself and love to see people happy.

Nigeria’s comedy doesn’t seem to be too friendly with comedians due to the rate of competition, only a few are making waves. How are you making sure you’re among the top ranked comedians?

Well, that I feel is your own opinion, any comedian that is in a competition in this country is not talented because if you have your style and you are skilled as a professional,I don’t think you need to be in any kind of competition because the sky is big for all to fly. The reason why God placed me there is the fact that am original, that is the only way to stay on top “ask 2face”.

How do you intend to deal with other comedians who may see you as a competitor?

Dealing with or thinking about competitors is like a waste of time to me . There is a proverb that says the water you will drink will not run by you, so paying attention is more like getting distracted when there are so many project to work on.

How does it feel being among the top ranked comedians, does it come with pressure?

Hmmmmm God made it happen so I feel good. Yes for any success story there is pressure but I pick on them one after the other to remain on top.

Are you in a relationship now?

Yes.

Coming this far, you must have observed lots of changes, what is your opinion of Nigerian comedians as it is today?

Yes, I have because comedians are proud of wat they do no compare to those days, it is a serious business but now it is even creating job opportunity for graduates. Comedians in Nigeria are not doing badly but were are not there yet but as far as Africa is concern we are no 1.

When are you likely to host a grand style comedy show?

Omobaba is into so many things, very soon I will have my album listening session with some of my friends and also radio and TV shows coming soon, watch out it will be so big.

Lastly, what is your take on the segregation comedians have had to face in Nigeria and what solutions would you suggest?

Well , I am just hearing that from you. For I as Omo Baba no1, I am free with all and I work freely in every environment I find myself.

Gossip & Gists: Rapper Ikechukwu And Fiancee Sarah Ofili Break Up

I don't know how I missed this! Damn! lol. If information reaching me is correct, then rapper Ikechukwu and his model/beauty specialist fiancee, beautiful Sarah Ofili have called it quits...again! The couple who got engaged in October 2011 after dating off and on for many years separated late last year. My sources say November/December.

My attention was actually brought to the new development after I posted Ikechukwu's bathroom photo on this blog a few days back and mentioned Sarah Ofili. I got a mail the following day with info about the break up. I've been doing a little digging since then, and the few people I asked confirmed that they've gone their separate ways.

But the thing is, this is not the first time the pair will separate...they always reconcile, so hopefully they will get back together...again!

Sarah hinted at the cause of their break up a few weeks back on her Twitter page. See it after the cut..

Gossip & Gists: Court Strikes Out Case Against 'Facebook Lover' Accused Of Attempted Rape

A Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday struck out a case of attempted rape against Arthur Obiora for “want of diligent prosecution”.

Obiora, 26, was arraigned on Nov. 9, 2012, over an alleged attempt to rape one Nkiruka Akabuogu at 1004 Flats, Victoria Island, Lagos.

He faced a three-count charge of threat to life, attempted rape and causing bodily harm to 21-year-old Akabuogu. Obiora, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The magistrate, Mrs A. O. Awogboro, who took over the case from Mr Martins Owunmi on Wednesday, following a reshuffle in the Lagos State Judiciary, granted a prayer of the defence to strike out the case.

Mr I. O. Fubara, the defence counsel, had asked the court to strike out the case since Nkeiruka and her family had not appeared in court since the inception of the case in November 2012.

After the arraignment, the case had been adjourned till Dec. 12, 2012 and again till Jan. 18, before it came up on Wednesday but no prosecution witness showed up.

Fabura had told the court during the last hearing that the families of Obiora and Akabuogu had “entered into discussions on how to resolve the case amicably’’.

The prosecutor, ASP Augustine Orji, told the court that the police informed Akabogu that the case was coming up on all the hearing dates.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Akabogu was initially hospitalised as a result of injuries sustained during the incident but has since been discharged.

NAN recalls that Orji, had told the court that Obiora met Akabuogu on Facebook, a social media network. He said the defendant subsequently invited her to a nightclub in Apapa on Oct. 31, 2012, after which they retired to his home at Block 10, Flat 317, 1004 Housing Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Orji had said that Obiora, who claimed to be an unemployed graduate of Igbinedion University, Okada, and the Centennial College, Ontario, Canada, shut all the doors in the apartment and demanded to have sex with Akabuogu.

"The accused tried to rape her and also threatened to kill her with a bottle of beer when she refused".
"The girl, fearing for her life, then jumped down from the third floor of the high-rise building".
"Nkiruka was discovered lying unconscious in a pool of her own blood about 30 minutes later by security men in the premises, who then reported the incident to the police".
"The police took the girl to a hospital and after she regained consciousness, obtained her statement,’’ the prosecutor said". (NAN)

Gossip & Gists: 3 Nigerian Brothers Charged For Rape And Kidnapping A 15-Year Old Girl

Three Nigerian-born brothers have been accused of kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old girl in December. The brothers Aziz Animashaun, 22 (left), Isiaka Animashaun, 25 (centre), and Taiwo Animashaun, 26 (right), were charged with aggravated criminal assault and kidnapping in connection with the crime police said happened on Dec. 21.

Prosecutors said during Sunday January 3rd bond court that the men were among a total of five to six attackers, the rest of whom have not been charged.

The brothers live on the South Side of Chicago but were born in Nigeria, according to court documents. Documents show they live in the 500 block of East 83rd Street in Chatham, about a block away from where police said the girl was kidnapped.

The girl was taking care of her brother and throwing out the trash when an SUV with five to six men inside drove up, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Jennifer Hamelly.

Aziz Animashaun allegedly got out of the car and and told the girl to get in, Hamelly said.
When the girl refused, Aziz Animashaun struck her with a "shiny revolver," according to court documents. Police said she was knocked unconcious.

He put the girl into the car and drove to another location, where the girl was forced to have sex with five to six men, Hamelly said.

Sometime during the assault, the girl heard the men speaking a language other than English, police and Hamelly said.

The victim managed to escape once the men were no longer in the room, Hamelly said. She ran from the location and and noticed the black SUV in a driveway, Hamelly said. Cops said that the victim made it home, and her sister called police.

The girl was kidnapped in the 400 block of East 83rd Street, police said. Police said two were being held for questioning a day after the incident, though they were not charged.

DNA recovered from a condom was linked to evidence found at the crime scene, according to court documents. Court documents also show the victim postively identified Aziz Animashaun as the man who hit her with a gun.

A "19th century" handgun matching the description of the one Aziz Animashaun allegedly used was recovered, Hamelly said.

Hamelly also said that based on the victim's experience with a teacher who speaks a language spoken in Nigeria, she was able to identify that the men who attacked her spoke a similar language.
The three were arrested on Friday, according to court documents.

Judge Israel Desierto ordered bail for Taiwo Animashaun set at $500,000, Aziz Animashaun set at $400,000 and Isiaka Animashaun set at $250,000.
